Traverse Tales

Join us for an evening of epic traverse tales! Within our little local community live some everyday legends. Meet Douglas Noblet and Alex Heathcott who share a similar passion for long walks in the mountains. Douglas will share his experience of skiing the entire length of the Canadian Monashee Mountains, and Alex will share his adventure of being the first recorded traverse of the Muskwa Range of the Northern Rocky Mountains. Hold those questions for the end as we will have a panel Q&A with Douglas, Alex, and Judson.

Douglas Noblet - Canadian Monashee Mountains Traverse

Trip Description:

On April 1st 2022, Isobel Phoebus, Steve Senecal, and Douglas Noblet set off with a goal of skiing the entire length of the Canadian Monashee Mountains in BC. Starting in Grand Forks with 45 km of biking, the trip finished in Clemina Creek near Valemount after 37 days, covering approximately 600 km and 42,000 vertical meters.

Bio:

Douglas Noblet is a Nelson based photographer, pilot, and avalanche professional. He enjoys long walks in the snow.

Alex Heathcott - Muskwa Range Traverse

Trip Description:

Between April 30 - May 8, 2022 Alex Duchesne and Alex Heathcott completed the first recorded traverse of the Muskwa Range of the Northern Rocky Mountains. Their trip brought them over remote summits and icefields, and finished with a 3-day packraft out the Racing River.

Bio:

Alex Heathcott is an environmental scientist and skier based in Nelson. He is passionate about Google Earth and ski traverses.
